OURsceneTV co-sponsors star-studded fundraiser marking 40th anniversary of the modern gay rights movement

What better way to kick off Gay Pride 2009 than to throw a star-studded party where pride began? The historic site of the Stonewall Riots and enduring gay mecca, the Stonewall Inn, held a benefit on June 15, celebrating the birth of the gay rights movement and raised money for The Hetrick Martin Institute, home of the Harvey Milk High School.

Celebrities such as Alan Cumming, (X-Men, The L Word) and Mario Cantone, (Sex & the City) came out to mingle and hear performances by Naked Boys Singing and Julie Gold, the Grammy-winning composer of Bette Midler's smash hit, "From a Distance."

The event, co-sponsored by the Stonewall Inn and OURsceneTV, was hosted by comic and TV personality, Bridget McManus, featured a sneak peek at our moving docu-series, Stonewall: Profiles of Pride, and included an open bar. Considering it was illegal to serve homosexuals in 1969, we've come a long way, baby.
