The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics offered new hope that LGBT athletes would be recognized and celebrated, but clearly more work needs to be done. OURsceneTV and OlympicsOrBust had the opportunity to interview Mark Tewksbury - one of just a few openly gay Olympians. Tewksbury, who won a silver medal in Seoul and a gold and a bronze in Barcelona, came out publicly at age 30, after growing frustrated with keeping secrets. Get Tewksbury’s take on who was competing in the closet during this year’s games.

The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics have been incredible. One special moment came when OURsceneTV and OlympicsOrBust had the opportunity to interview deaf Olympic torchbearer – J.C. Horton. Surprisingly, J.C. was not the original torchbearer for that section of the torch’s journey. Instead a man named Brian Hill awarded it to him. Hill said that the Olympics “are about pushing yourself to achieve, more than you think possible, despite any obstacles that may come your way.” Hill watched J.C. grow up and was inspired by his determination to overcome whatever stood in his way. J.C. is 16 years old, love sports and plays junior varsity basketball for Vancouver College. Check out his incredible story of beating the odds…
Canada Has a Lot of Pride For its LGBT Community
The Vancouver Winter Olympics marks the first "pride house" in any Olympic village ever. The aim is create a haven for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, coaches, family, fans and allies to hang out during the Games. The venue will feature a lounge where guests can watch events and relax.
OURsceneTV's self proclaimed Oympicholics talk to the many regular people and government officials who made this historic venue possible. Canada is certainly welcoming all aspects of our world's community to be a part of the Winter Olympic Games
